Thirty. Major Remodel |
|
A remodel and addition to a 1960's home in
central Omaha involved designing a Kitchen/Laundry Room addition,
Eating Area remodel and adding an Outdoor Entertaining/Gazebo Area
adjacent to an existing pool.
The Owners were looking to create a
Kitchen which would accommodate a family of five plus friends and
not feel claustrophobic.
A wall was removed between the original
Eating and Kitchen areas and then Alder cabinets were designed with
granite countertops which opened up the Kitchen to the Eating Area.
A two level island and "hidden" walk-in
Pantry created an area more functional and usable without adding
alot of bulky cabinets.
The island design allows for extra
seating in the Kitchen and also acts as a buffet serving area for
larger gatherings.
The Laundry/Mud Room was added off the
Garage with plenty of storage and a Powder Room with a door to
access the swimming pool separates the Kitchen from the Laundry
Area.
The Eating Area gained a new built-in
fireplace with a natural stone tile surround and tile mantel.
A recessed, flat panel T.V. was
integrated above the fireplace in a picture frame format to be more
discrete. Outside a built-in slate firepit, built-in grill with cabinets and a standing seam copper covered Gazebo, including a cupola, was designed to compliment the pool area. Hand forged custom iron scrolls were designed on the posts to help visually support the uplighted open joist ceiling and give architectural interest. The Gazebo gives shade during hot summer days and shelter for the outdoor eating area. The firepit can be enjoyed from both outdoors and the existing Family Room which also received new, wide custom French sliding doors overlooking the entire backyard. |
