Twenty nine. Detached Garage |
| This picturesque project involved adding a detached Garage to an existing 80-year old brick home in central Omaha. The Owners wanted to have 2-car plus storage Garage on a corner lot designed with the same character, charm and interest of the original house. The design centered around creating steep roof pitches and curving fascia boards reminiscent of the brick Tudor homes of the era. The Garage doors were designed with the look of carriage doors, complete with arches, true divided lite windows, recessed tongue and groove panels and iron handles. Because of required zoning setbacks on this corner lot, the Garage placement pinned in the backyard from future equipment access, so a pass-thru Garage door was designed for the center Garage door stall which allows for landscaping equipment, mowers and any other larger items of some size to access the backyard at anytime. Much attention to brick detailing was paid to create the now obsolete "clinker" brick, brick blend pattern and brick grout to match the original house. A future remodel phase planned will turn the existing Garage into a Family Room off the current Kitchen. |
