Twenty five. Major Remodel |
|
Sometimes even homes
built in the last 20 years are already out of date and not laid out
well for today's living.
With this house, a lack of character,
charm and personality were present.
We were asked by the homeowners to
rectify those issues in the entry, kitchen, laundry, powder rooms,
master bath and lower level so they would work better with this
large and growing family. The entry, outside and
in, was remodeled and modified.
Designed was a new covered brick porch
reminiscent of older neighborhoods of the 1920's.
Inside, overscaled trim, a new door and
an oval window were included to add interest and character. The kitchen and laundry/mud rooms were completely reconfigured to make cooking, eating and cleaning easier, more open and accommodate additional storage. A combination of different painted and stained cabinets with an oversized granite countertop island gave the Kitchen a layout area for baking and serving meals. A butler's pantry, separating the kitchen and dining room, was added to accommodate more dishes and glassware storage, along with an undercounter refrigerator. The Master Bath was remodeled and reconfigured to allow for his and her large, classic styled vanities with marble tops, an oversized shower and a luxurious freestanding tub, all on a stone mosaic patterned heated floor. The Lower Level received a new bar, entertainment area, trophy cabinet and half bath, along with an exercise room. Even the backyard was adjusted with a beautiful new retaining wall and landscaping to accommodate the kid's play area. All the cabinetry in the entire house was finished on site with multiple colors and stains to compliment the overall palate of the house, mixing traditional lines with bolder, more intense colors. |
