Total
house transformations do occur from time to time.
They require creativity, the
ability
to see the possibilities and commitment to making those changes happen. For this
project, the Client asked us to take an existing ranch house and give it new life as
a transitional, contemporary home.
Cleaner architectural lines, but yet not modern, were used both inside and
out to address the homeowner's desire to be less fussy, but yet not as sterile as
contemporary design sometimes can be.
The result is an eclectic, fun, interesting and at times playful combination
of traditional and semi-contemporary elements thoughtfully placed to allow this
young family a lifestyle that accommodates a growing family of five.
On the exterior, siding and wrought iron railings were designed to accentuate
horizontal lines. On the interior, a delightful mix of different materials from
laminate, to Avonite, to granite, along with multi-finished cabinets were
incorporated to play off of each other and give each room individuality and
personality. |
